What can I say about this magnificent, classic Australian novel! I love his story written by the beautiful Ruth Park. I have loved it since I was 6 when our teacher read it to us at school. Abby is hopeless romantic who day dreams most of her life away. She is frustrated with her mother and has little or no relationship with her father. She lives a lonley life untill she is transported back in time and becomes the stranger for the Bow family. This book has everything - love, humor, conflict and you'll learn a little Australian history along the way. This is a novel for all ages and I will read it to my girls too. So worth the readProduct details

I thoroughly enjoyed this book both as a teenager and recently again as an adult.. I recommend this book it's an easy and enjoyable read.
Playing Beatie Bow was very easy to read, very descriptive and allowed the imagination to transport me "back in time" to the early colony years. I saw this as a movie years ago and have been looking for the book since. Thank you
I loved this book when it was new and love it just as much now -)
I thought I had read it, but apparently I hadn't. If I have, I can't remember it, but I sure as hell wont forget it again!
This was an interesting and well written book. I got a bit sick of it in the middle when the character was in another time but then became curious about what would happen when she came back which enticed me to finish the book. Having read Harp in the South I was impressed with this writer and would recommend this book. It is not very long or heavy which is can be good.
